Healthy Diet - Lose Weight - Lets's do this Together

Yes, yes, after the all the festivities pretty much everyone in January announces they're on a diet, joining a gym and are going to get fit and healthy.  Trouble is come February most of us, including myself, kind of forgets about it and go back to our usual eating habits.  But this time I really mean it; I will lose weight and I will eat more healthily - together we can do this!

I'm excited to take part in Jumpstart January and I'll be featuring healthy recipes a review and a rather special giveaway which will all based around healthy eating.

As I'm going to be sharing my progress with you, I hope to hear how you're doing too so please leave a comment below.  Of course I appreciate that not everyone needs to lose weight; but even if it's just to get fitter which means you will have more energy, eating healthier can only be a good thing.  For me, I really do need to loose 9lb in order to get back to how I used to be.

Losing weight isn't all about smoothies and hardly eating; if it was I'd fail miserably!
I always weighed 8 stone 4lb, no less and certainly no more until the beginning of last year. Suddenly (yes it seemed to just happen) I found I weighed 8 stone 13lb (57kg) and needed to loose 9lb (4kg).

Last year I was doing really well, eating good things and having variations of my Weetabix and Berry Smoothie with Chia Seeds for breakfast along with a bit of exercise I actually lost 7lb until I had quite a major health problem which meant exercise was out of the question and to be honest I couldn't be bothered.  So the weight went back on and a year later I'm back to needing to loose that 9lb again.

So to here's my plan of action for achieving my health goals for January and the rest of 2017

Diet:
I don't believe you have to starve in order to lose a bit of weight.  I'm just going to cut down on cheese, potatoes, bread and crisps.  Make more breakfast smoothies (I find them quite filling) but when I really don't have time, instead of toast I'll be having Bran flakes or Weetabix.

I'm also going to increase the amount of wholefoods I eat and have at least one meat free day and at least one fish day per week.

Exercise:
There would be no point in me joining a gym since I just know I wouldn't go; I never seem to have time and that would be my excuse.  So instead what I did last year (which is how I did manage to loose weight) I bought a Mini Trampoline - oh yes indeed!  Seriously, I stuck to doing these exercises I found on YouTube and I truly noticed my stomach getting flatter.  I have a bad back but the trampoline makes things like sit ups so much easier on the back.  If anyone wants to know which particular exercises please contact me.   I find this mini trampoline even helps manage my sciatica.

I'll also be walking briskly for 30 minutes at least 3 times per week.  Walking is free, enjoyable and already a part of everyday life; apparently all you need to do is correct your technique, walk faster and for longer and you will lose weight, so I will be looking into that.

This all sounds so good. I had all sorts of plans, but they've already fallen! But here's to Jumpstart January, even though there are only ten days left ;)
Good luck with your weight loss goal, I'm sure you will do it! My aim is to get fitter and cut down on the junk food. I love the idea of a mini trampoline!!

Your diet plan is very sensible! Just eat more wholefoods like you said and exercise regularly and let your body do the rest!

All sounds very sensible - how are you getting on? I have started this year with similar plans...eating healthily and exercising sensibly - I started running last year, which is really great for me as I have a young family and it means I can take advantage of small moments when I have say 20 or 30 minutes - I even run home from school drop off sometimes! Eb x

I've only managed to lose 4 lb so far but at I suppose at least it's better than putting 4 lb on!

Hope it's working for you. I find it really hard to change my diet to healthy food. There is a really nice butternut squash/spaghetti quinoa bolognese ready meal I like, but it is so bland I have to add hot sauce and cheese!! I am doomed.
