It's delicious 😋
Easy to prepare - no cooking skills required
Quick (cooks in 5 minutes), even with the marinade time, it's on the table in 15 minutes - Happy days!
Ingredients
- rump steak - at room temperature (see top tip below)
- onion
- bell pepper
- spring (green) onions
Marinade ingredients
- vegetable oil
- dark soy sauce
- garlic granules (minced garlic tends to burn easily over high heat)
- dried oregano (or thyme)
- black pepper
- a pinch of Bart red bell pepper flakes
Top tip!
As with any meat or poultry, it should always be brought to room temperature before cooking; otherwise, it will turn out tough.
Equipment
You will need a cast-iron sizzler plate, as this dish won't cook as fast in a frying pan and is more likely to steam rather than sizzle. If you're a lover of a good steak, you will use the sizzler plate time and time again.
Sizzle plates are available in a couple of sizes, making it easy to cook for more people when needed.

Sizzle Steak Recipe
Tender sizzling steak with peppers and onions.
Ingredients
- 300g rump steak (at room temperature), fat removed and sliced into thin strips
- 1 medium-sized brown onion - peeled and very thinly sliced
- 1 green bell (capsicum) pepper - deseeded and thinly sliced
- 2 spring (green) onions - top and tailed and thinly sliced on the diagonal
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- a pinch of dried oregano or thyme
- a pinch of garlic granules
- a couple of grinds of black pepper (pepper mill)
- a pinch of Bart red bell pepper flakes (they are sweet, not spicy)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the marinade ingredients. Add the prepared steak, onion (reserving the spring onion), and bell pepper, then stir well. Let it marinate at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Heat your sizzle platter or heavy-based frying pan till nice and hot (a cast-iron sizzle pan will start to smoke when it's hot enough to cook).
- Add the marinated steak, onions and peppers to the sizzle platter (everything will cook really quickly). Turn everything in the pan at least twice.
- Add the spring onion and serve right away.
