Baked Feta Recipe
Slightly salty feta with sweetness from the honey, topped with Za'atar seasoning and thyme.
This is such a simple recipe to make and it's so good to eat - creamy and delicious. Ideal for spreading onto freshly baked crusty bread.
Makes a perfect appetiser and serves two as a sharing course. Although with that said, I could quite happily eat the whole thing to myself! 😋
Totally addictive and the whole thing is ready in a little over 20 minutes.
Nothing fancy is needed, just hunks of crusty bread for dipping and mopping is all that's needed here, folks!
Za’atar
How to make za’atar seasoning
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon coriander
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon sumac
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Toast the cumin and coriander seeds in a dry pan, just until they start to release their aroma - take care not to let them burn.
Using a pestle and mortar grind them to a fine powder and then stir in all the other ingredients.
Add the salt and black pepper and that's it, you're all done.
This will keep in a small jar or airtight container for a month.

First, gather your ingredients.
Remove the feta from its packaging and drain the water from it. Pat it dry with a kitchen paper towel.
Put the whole slab of feta into a dish that it fits into snuggly.
Drizzle with olive oil so that there's a tiny shallow pool in the bottom - no more. Sprinkle over the za’atar and chilli flakes.
Put it into a preheated oven 200°C/400°F (Fan oven 180°C) on the middle shelf and bake for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and drizzle well with honey (I forgot to take a picture)! Put it back into the oven to bake for a further 10 minutes.
Remove and sprinkle over a few fresh thyme leaves.
