Roundup of Great Foodie Books - Chocolates and Snacks

Oooh what a fantastic lot of foodie books I have here; along with yummy chocolates from Elizabeth Shaw and Snacking Salami from The Serious Pig.....Well that's a bit of a mixture I hear you say, and indeed it is but all are well worth checking out!

Listed in no particular order (although you all know I'm a big lover of cheese) here we go.
A Year in Cheese

Oh my goodness, CHEEEESE!  Everyone that reads this blog will know we do eat a lot of cheese, bad I know but we love the stuff; this book is full of delicious recipes and cheesy goodness.
Cheese can be used in so many ways with so many different results and this book is packed full of surprising combinations including ice cream made with Cornish blue cheese served with caramelised walnuts - wow!
I like how although a lot of the recipes include cheeses from artisan producers but also included is clear descriptions so you can find an alternative in your local store.
There's also a bit on wine pairing and serving the perfect cheeseboard.

Amina's Home Cooking

MasterChef favorite Amina Elshafei is blessed with a rich family history - her mum is Korean, and her dad is Egyptian. Delicious recipes in the book include recipes for traditional Middle Eastern dishes such as Lamb, Prune and Fig Tagine and Korean staples such as Kimchi, as well as exciting new recipes such as Sumac-crusted Trout with Heirloom Tomato Salsa and Harissa Chicken.

I just have to make Egyptian Lemon and Garlic Chicken; chicken and potatoes are baked in the oven in a stock with lemon and baharat (a middle eastern spice mix).  Yep that's on my ever growing must make list; easy to make and the ingredients like most in the book are easily obtainable here in the UK. A fantastic Christmas foodie gift.

Spice I Am

Thai chef Sujet Saenkham shares his family's home style recipes for the fresh flavours of regional Thai cooking so you can enjoy authentic Thai food at home.

You can start with a simple stir-fry of basil minced chicken and then go on to learn how to make Sujet's signature stir-fried crispy belly with basil, roasted red duck curry with aubergine, tomato and pineapple and crispy prawn and lemongrass salad, as well as traditional classics like stir-fried rice noodles, tom khagai chicken, coconut & galangal soup and a massaman beef curry.

I'm loving this book as much as Amina's Home Cooking mentioned above; the photography is fantastic, every dish looks mouthwatering.  I am so inspired by this book and just have to tell you about the Stir-fried Crispy Pork belly with Chilli Jam on page 88.....oh my goodness it looks soooo good!  Yes this book would make another great Christmas foodie gift.

Elizabeth Shaw Chocolates

New chocolates this Christmas from Elizabeth Shaw are the Christmas Creations Gift Box and the Winter Warmers Truffle Collection.

The Christmas Creations Gift Box
A real festive feast of seasonal favourites, think Gingerbread Crisps, Dark Orange Crème’s, Milk Chocolate Amaretto and Dark Chocolate Caramels.

The Winter Warmer Truffle Collection
These truffles have a warming twist of alcohol. Elizabeth Shaw has created a brand new gift box full of indulgent truffles infused with popular liqueurs, including whisky, rum, cognac and amaretto.
Both boxes are excellent for sharing or better still eating them all to yourself!  Great for after dinner or as stocking fillers.  Paul (the husband and chef taster of all things chocolate) loved all of them equally with no particular favorite.  The Winter Warmer Truffles have a quite boozy taste.

Serious Pig

Serious Pig is a British craft charcuterie specialist and they've just launched a new campaign called 'Pick a pig' where we are trying to inspire food brands to open up about the ingredients in their food and to stop brands misleading customers about unhealthy, overly processed junk food.  Instead they aim to get the country snacking on more authentic products.

Chili and Paprika Snacking Salami:
We all like spice in our life but, of course, it has to be balanced. The level of chilli in this salami delivers a sharp piquancy that together with the smoked paprika creates a deep, rich flavour.

Classic Snacking Salami:
This gorgeous classic salami is prepared with a careful combination of herbs and spices. Cracked black peppercorns provide its signature flavour which delivers a depth of taste that works beautifully with the tanginess of the cured meat.

As part of their campaign, Serious Pig is giving its customers the choice to select the pig which will be used in its next batch of snacks, in a bid to get people thinking more about what they are eating  which is great.
My personal favorite has to be the Chilli and Paprika; The Serous Pig, this is good stuff!

Disclaimer:  Many thanks to all the brands that sent these products for me to try.  All thoughts and opinions are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.  As always I only write about products I truly love and recommend.
