Step by Step Cooking Guide to Christmas Dinner

Cooking Christmas dinner can be quite traumatic - if you don't have a plan that is.  The last thing you want after all the weeks of preparation is to end up in a big panic with potatoes turning the wrong side of golden and the turkey nowhere near cooked!

I came across this handy infographic for getting dinner on the table for 2 pm which I say is the perfect time.  It's not too early (you don't want to be stuck in the kitchen when there are presents to unwrap) but it's not too late either; so you still have room all those sweets and treats whilst watching a festive film perhaps.

The note in the last part of the infographic is really important too.  One year I had my turkey all nicely tucked into a roasting tray and covered with foil only to find the tray didn't fit in the oven; there I was rummaging through the cupboards hoping desperately to find another tray 😧
So I say it's best to be prepared and check BEFORE the big day!

No Stress Electric Carving Knife - Judge Cookware

Now I must admit I've always been a bit scared of electric carving knives plus I've never thought they were really necessary and that I could do just as good a job with a good sharp knife.

But after testing this one from Judge Cookware I've been converted and have decided an electric knife is the way to go.

I used it to carve the Sunday roast chicken and getting nice thin slices was effortless; this is going to be great for carving the turkey at Christmas.

Check out my video to see it in action!
Apologies for the video being not too amazing quality; turns out we had the video camera on the worst quality setting but as I didn't have another chicken to carve I will soon record another and replace this one.

I find really fresh bread is always a problem to slice, but this Judge Electric Carving Knife made short work and it was easy to get slices of even thickness.

Landon Tyler Luxury Candles and Diffusers - Review

Okay lets talk about candles and diffusers - yes I know they aren't food or kitchen related but I do get quite excited about scented candles and I absolutely love diffusers!

Diffusers are perfect for small rooms; my downstairs loo and en-suite are never without one.  I love the clean, fresh scents and 'Winter Woods' from Landon Tyler is just that.

With Christmas just a few weeks away these would make the perfect girly gift if you're wondering what to get your Nan, mum, sister, aunt or me 😊

Guacamole with Red Pepper and Tomato Recipe

Now I've written about guacamole before; but that was over 4 years ago and my slightly titivated recipe has since become our favorite.   There really is no excuse for not making your own guacamole; it's so very easy to make and is nothing like the shop bought pureed green stuff you can buy in a supermarket.  What's more, avocado is packed with nutrients - so go on and give it a go!

Guacamole

I've added red pepper as well as tomato since I love the extra bright red the diced pepper adds.
With Christmas and New Year parties coming up impress your guests with your homemade guacamole - Tortilla chips at the ready and dive in!

Love this Solid Granite Pestle and Mortar - just saying!

Cocktail Recipes - The Perfect Mix

Christmas and New Year are the perfect excuse for a cheeky cocktail or two.  But of course a cocktail is good at any time of the year; in moderation of course.

Whether the refreshing flavours of a good Mojito is what you're after, or a colourful Sangria to remind you of summer, check out this innovative Cocktail Wheel.  It's so easy to use - to find the recipe of your choice just click on the name of the cocktail and the necessary ingredients plus correct measurements needed to create the perfect cocktail are revealed.

So now you're armed with the recipe, all you need now is some stylish cocktail glasses to show of your cocktail making skills.  I especially like these Margarita glasses from House of Fraser.

Margarita glasses are also perfect for making the most ordinary dessert look stylish.  Back in the summer I made a Cherry Ice Cream Sundae but for Christmas you could use these glasses to serve up small slices of Christmas pudding with Brandy Butter; just an idea but I may well have to give it a go!

Happy cocktail making - please drink responsibly.

Disclosure:  I received a set of cocktail glasses from House of Fraser.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  I was not required to write anything positive.
