Deiss PRO Citrus Zester and Cheese Grater Giveaway

Having been recently sent this brilliant Citrus Zester and Cheese Grater from Deiss Kitchenware. The Razor-sharp Stainless Steel Blade does a great job of Parmesan, Lemon, Ginger, Garlic, Nutmeg, Chocolate, Vegetables and Fruits; just like they says it does.

To be honest I think it's an absolute bargain since it really isn't a lot different to the well known brand Microplane.

You can order one now using this special discount code to receive 20% off of your order over at Amazon.  To take advantage of this offer simply add this code CPSBKUDH to your order (valid until 1st March 2017).  Using the discount, according to my maths that works out at just £7.98 - making it a proper Billy Bargain!

Edge of Belgravia Black Diamond Knife Block and Precision Knife Set - Giveaway

Edge of Belgravia is one of the worlds most innovative chef knife brands.  Established in Belgravia, London in 2010 and officially launched onto the UK market in 2012, Edge of Belgravia has quickly won acclaim.  The company has combined daring avant-gard design with clever marketing to gain global recognition.

Created by London designer Christian Bird the futuristic concept of this unique floating knife block is reminiscent of the angles of a rough-cut diamond, yet has the style and beauty of contemporary art.

The knife block (RRP £99.90) holds up to 11 knives but looks just as good with fewer and is suitable for most knives with a blade thickness of up to 4 mm.
Clever use of weighting holds knives securely in place and they are easy to remove too.

The Precision Knife set (RRP £69.90) includes a Bread knife, Chef's knife, Deba knife (Japanese salmon) knife and Paring knife.  All the knives are coated in stainless steel with a non stick blade coating which cuts with ease.

Having used these knifes for the past week I can say they are truly the best knives I've ever had.  I love that they are handy and time saving as I can see exactly which knife I want at a glance and of course the knife block keeps them safe rather than them being kept in a drawer.  The knives are razor sharp and comfortable to hold.  They are not dishwasher safe.

More information can be found over at Edge of Belgravia website.

Marks & Spencer - New Meole Brace Foodhall Opening and a Giveaway

Marks & Spencer is known for its high quality, exclusive and innovative food products, but I think the ‘Tastes of the British Isles’ range is really something special.

M&S scoured the British Isles to find good traditional recipes and then recreated them, so you can ‘taste’ your way around the British Isles enjoying the best of British.  Over the past week I’ve tried a few of products so if you haven’t discovered Tastes of the British Isles yet, you can see what you’re missing out on!

Arbroath Lochmuir Hot Smoked Salmon Slices; I loved these, the salmon slices come in a pack of two and are seasoned with cracked black pepper, mustard and dill.  Serve with a green salad for a light lunch or add new potatoes and fresh crusty bread for easy fuss free summer eating at its best.

Pork and Egg Pie; nice and meaty, a good and what I’d call a proper pork pie.  As with all M&S food the egg is free range.  Every slice apart from the very end slices had egg.  These pies are made by a Leicestershire company with 160 years’ experience.  The pastry was excellent too; yes I can honestly say this is by far the best pork pie I’ve ever eaten.

Elderflower and Cucumber Gin Fizz; this is so refreshing, just the thing for the lovely weather we’ve been having lately.  5.5%vol this ready-made cocktail made with white wine and elderflower extract, cucumber and gin.  Perfect summer drink that is a little too easy to drink!  You can really taste the cucumber; we loved it.

Hog Roast Sausage Rolls; made in Yorkshire with crisp all butter puff pastry.  The sausage meat and pulled pork work well together.  They had a nice flavour from the Bramley apple too.  Each sausage roll is topped with pork crackling and are ready to eat hot or cold, perfect for a picnic.  I heated 2 sausage rolls in the oven for me and Paul (the husband) to try and the crackling topping was nice and crispy - perfect.   When eaten straight from the pack without heating we found the crackling wasn’t at all crispy, still good to eat but thought they were far better served hot.

Cornish Cove and Bacon Posh Puppies; now I was pleasantly surprised as to be honest I didn’t fancy the sound of cheese in a sausage and therefore wouldn’t be something I’d have chosen to buy.  But with that said, I’m so pleased to have tried them as they really are the best!  These Posh Puppies are meaty and nicely seasoned; a lovely smoky taste from the bacon and the Cornish Cove Cheddar was, well cheesy and very tasty.

Sweet Potato Wedges with Chipotle Chilli Mayonnaise; so easy to cook, just remove the wrapping, put the mayo to one side for serving.  Pop the wedges into a preheated oven and once cooked, serve.  Simply dip into the chipotle chilli mayonnaise - nice.

Old Fashioned Barbecue Sauce & Marinade; made from a classic English recipe with green peppers and a kick of British horseradish.  It can be used as a marinade for meat fish or poultry or you can use it as a sauce to top burgers.

Strawberries and Cream; you know how some strawberries can be tasteless?  Well these Herefordshire strawberries were quite the opposite; packed full of flavour and every strawberry was a good size which is something you don’t always find in other stores.  Perfect served with M&S Extra Thick West Country Single Cream.

Having been sent this Bordeaux and Artisan Cheese Selection hamper to review I must say at £39.99 value for money it's not bad considering next (weekday) delivery is included in the price.  Each gift comes with a gift card and of course when ordering you add a message which is printed on the card.

Giveaway Bitter - Recipe Book

Another lovely book published by Jacqui Small titled Bitter written by Jennifer McLagan; exploring the complex world of this under-appreciated flavour, Bitter takes readers on a journey through the spectrum of bitterness, using ingredients such as grapefruit and citrus zests, chicory, chocolate, beer and tobacco.

The book is divided into different categories such as greens, liquids, vegetables and fruits and also looks at surprisingly bitter, dark and very bitter foods; what do coffee, IPA beer, dark chocolate, and radicchio all have in common?  They’re bitter.
While some culinary cultures, such as in Italy and parts of Asia, have an inherent appreciation for bitter flavors (think Campari and Chinese bitter melon), little attention has been given to bitterness in North America: we’re much more likely to reach for salty or sweet.
However, with a surge in the popularity of craft beers; dark chocolate; coffee; greens like arugula, dandelion, radicchio, and frisée; high-quality olive oil; and cocktails made with Campari and absinthe - all foods and drinks with elements of bitterness - bitter is finally getting its due.

GIVEAWAY - Perfect Mother's Day Gift from Judge

As you may have seen in my previous post, I reviewed this very nice Glass Hob Top Tea Pot.
Well, the nice people over at Judge Cookware are giving one lucky reader of this blog the chance to win one of these Glass Hob Top Tea Pots AND a set of Two Glass Cappuccino/Teacups the prize is worth a total of £53.50

The 250ml glass cappuccino/teacups match perfectly with the glass tea pot - both are very stylish and would make the perfect Mother's Day Gift.

The cappuccino cups are part of a new collection ranging from tumblers to coffee mugs, by Judge which employs a thermally insulated ‘air pocket’ design to create the ultimate drinking experience.

Hot drinks remain hotter for longer, while the outside of the glass remains cool to the touch.  Cold drinks can be as icy as ever you wish, and yet the outer glass will stay condensation-free. Both of these points mean that you no longer need clutter your coffee table with coasters.

Made from scratch-resistant borosilicate glass, and carefully crafted for a comfortable lip, each vessel is individually mouth-blown by artisan glass makers meaning that every single item in the range is unique.
Despite their delicate appearance and handcrafted formation, all Judge Double Walled Glasses are dishwasher safe, for your convenience.

The glass tea pot of course can be used to make herbal or fruit teas too as shown above.  The tea pot is suitable for ALL hobs types including Induction - for more details you can read my review here.
