Kitchen Trotter - Soon to Launch in the UK

January 2016 will see Kitchen Trotter launch in the UK; with a different country featured each month in the Kitchen Trotter kit, you will have the opportunity to discover and try your hand at cuisines from all around the world in the comfort of your own kitchen.

1 Month, 1 Country, 1 Kit; with the aim to deliver the culinary world straight to your door.  Each month, Kitchen Trotter kits offer a culinary journey through a menu full of mystery, delicious products and authenticity.  Subscribers will learn how to cook the traditional recipes of a secret kept country.

Having received a box you can see from my picture everything was nicely packaged.  I love cooking different foods so I love this idea. This month the box focused on Indonesia.

The box contains a recipe booklet which has a shopping list of the other ingredients you will need to buy to create the recipes; for example chicken and vegetables.   I hadn't realised when I took this picture that there's also a little 3 minute hourglass timer so that measuring time is also covered!

UFUUD Premium Italian Food Delivery to UK and Europe - Review

I was recently asked if I'd like to place an order with Ufuud (an online Italian food ordering company) to review their ordering system and delivery to the UK.
Now we're talking proper premium Italian food that is not only delivered to Italy but can also be shipped to places all over Europe from Milan.

I was in my element browsing through the Ufuud website looking at all the beautiful foods and the product packaging just cries out 'buy me'!  I mean seriously, look at the lovely products - I can't wait to try them all.
Pasta of all shapes and some you can't buy over here in the UK.

Donald Russell Delivery and an Interactive Turkey Guide

Donald Russell is well known for it's great quality meat, poultry and seafood but also their extensive range of other fantastic foods too.  In fact Donald Russell the butcher has a Royal Warrant to supply gourmet meat to Buckingham Palace.  Ordering from them is easy online or you can also order by phone, email or fax.

I was recently sent a Free Range Turkey Crown along with some Pigs in Blankets.  Turkeys from Donald Russell  are Free-Range turkeys, from the LouĂ© farmers of France.  Slow-grown turkey fed on natural cereal-based diet.  The great thing with a turkey crown is there isn't any waste - if you're not keen on drumsticks (dark meat) then a turkey crown is the way to go.  A crown is also really easy to carve too.
I received a small turkey crown that says it will serve 4-5 people - well I'm sure it would, but there wouldn't have enough leftover for turkey sandwiches so I'd recommend ordering a larger one since turkey sandwiches are always a good thing especially on Boxing Day or for that matter for leftover Turkey Curry.

The pigs in blankets (chipolatas wrapped in streaky bacon) were the best we've ever tasted.  Fantastic quality too, meaty and in no way greasy.  All Donald Russell meat is sourced, where possible, from local suppliers or reputable farms across the UK by their experienced team of buyers.
You may well wonder why there isn't a picture of the cooked turkey - well I have to admit as soon as it arrived (frozen) I automatically put it straight into the freezer without thinking that I was supposed to have cooked it for this review.  I am sure it will be delicious once cooked on Christmas day.

Turkey size and Breed:
If you're not sure which size Turkey you need or can't decide between a whole bird or a crown to order pop over and take a look at Donald Russell's Interactive Turkey Guide.

Delivery and Packaging:
All items are professionally shock frozen and arrive very well packed in a polystyrene box with bubble wrap and packs of dry ice.

I was told my delivery would arrive on Friday and I received an email telling me how to track my parcel.  I was impressed as I discovered that my turkey would arrive between 1.15pm and 2.15pm and I could even request a to receive a text message when I was to be the drivers next stop - Marvelous!
However, by 4pm I discovered by looking couriers online  tracking service that my delivery was delayed and that it wouldn't arrive until Monday - well I know it's well packaged but the poor turkey and sausages wouldn't remain frozen that long - dry ice wouldn't save them that long.
Fantastic Service from Donald Russell Customer Service!
And so, I rang Donald Russell and couldn't fault the brilliant service I received.  There was genuine concern that my package hadn't arrived and the woman I spoke to said she would see what could be done about it still being delivered that day.  Less than 15 minutes later she rang back but said that unfortunately the delivery people (an outside company that Donald Russell use) were so behind with deliveries and that it would certainly be delivered the next day.

I was concerned that the turkey would have started to defrost but since the packaging was so good it arrived still frozen solid despite that by now the pack of dry ice had evaporated.  However, the pigs in blankets had de-frosted and although they were ice cold they of course couldn't be re-frozen.
No worries for me since I was going to cook the next day but had they have been for Christmas this wouldn't have been good.

Please note:
With all that said, of course none of this was any fault whatsoever of Donald Russell - the product was packaged very well and even had a big green note on the outside instructing the courier company  'Perishable Goods - DO NOT return to depot - MUST be delivered or ring this number'.

Restaurant Quality Food - Delivered to your Door - Review

If you hadn't noticed, I absolutely love food and cooking!  But of course, there are many people who either don't have the interest, or are simply too busy and can't spare the time to cook.
So if you are one of those people and would like to hold a dinner party, how about trying my choice (for the main course) Parmesan, Pancetta and Spinach Stuffed Chicken with a side of Dauphinoise Potatoes - without the bother of having to actually make it - sounds good?
Then read on!

Before I go on, I noticed that Free Range Eggs were always used in their food.  If they wasn't, I would have turned down the chance of this review.
More More More are an online company based in Newcastle (UK) and they deliver home-cooked food straight to your door.  Either your everyday meals or a fancy dinner party feast can be delivered, leaving you very little to do apart from pop it in the oven and take it to the table when it's done.
So, for my review I could place an order of 'home-cooked quality food' and have it delivered to my door.  Even though I don't have a problem cooking myself (in fact if we hold a dinner party I'm in my element) I even love the stress part but this still sounded good, so how did it go?

Farmison Gourmet British Food - Review

Anyone that likes good food will love Farmison!  A new gourmet online food store which delivers Michelin star quality food straight to your kitchen.  Just recently I was kindly sent their Everyday Vegetable box to try.

Vegetable box

As the name suggests the Everyday Vegetable Box was full of veg you'd use everyday:
Cabbage, Carrots, Runner Beans, Sweet Peppers, Tomatoes, Onions, Potatoes, Courgettes, Garlic, Broccoli, Peas in their pod and Mushrooms.

About Farmison:
Farmison source the finest of British produce including bespoke cuts of meat, award-winning artisan cheeses and fresh seasonal fruit and vegetable boxes, using the same farmers and producers which supply the kitchens of world renowned restaurants, such as Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck, Yorke Arms, Northcote Manor and Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.

The Everyday Vegetable Box:
The box arrived and everything was very well packed.  As you can see from my pictures the quality of the veg was seriously good.  Everything looked like it had literally just been picked it was so fresh.

At the time of writing this actual box sells at just £15.95 and is suitable for a family of 3-4 but there are many more to choose from to suit your needs.  Delivery is free on orders over £50 so it makes it worth while ordering your meat including steaks, burgers and sausages and BBQ packs.  Poultry, cheese and hampers for every occasion can all be delivered to your door.

Would I recommended ordering from Farmsion?
Oh yes indeed, as I said, great products at a reasonable price with an excellent delivery service.

Disclosure:  I was sent a vegetable box to review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own  I was not required to write anything positive.

Keevil and Keevil Steak Box and Delivery - a Review

I was very kindly sent the Smithfield Meat Box to review from Keevil and Keevil the on-line butchers.
I must say I'm totally impressed!  The steaks were delicious, excellent value for money and of the highest quality.  As the box contained 8 steaks (and there are only the two of us) so far we've only tried the Ribeye and the Sirloin.  Now, when I say they tasted good - I mean they tasted GOOD!
   Pictured below - Ribeye Steak:
 Sirloin Steak:
Some beef you buy these days seems to have very little in the way of taste - not these steaks, they were juicy, tender and full of flavour.
