Apple Pie with Rum Soaked Sultanas - Judge Cookware Electric Pie Maker Review

Everyone likes a good pie whether it's sweet or savory.  New in my kitchen is this Electric Pie Maker from Judge Cookware and I have to say I'm seriously loving it.  In a word it's brilliant; the pastry cooks perfectly and the deep fill pie moulds allow for 'proper' good and filling pies to be cooked in just 15 minutes once you have the filling ready.

Apple Pie made in an electric pie maker

Far quicker than waiting for the oven to heat up, so in a way this is also a money saving gadget too!

SuperFast Thermapen 4 vs Classic Thermapen - Review

It has to be said I do have a lot of fancy kitchen gadgets, but the one thing I couldn't be without is my Thermapen probe thermometer.  It gets used in my kitchen pretty much every single day and without meaning to sound like an advert, I really do love the Thermapen and can't recommend them enough.

I believed there wasn't anything that could be improved on (until I recently received the new SuperFast Thermapen 4) which has an automatic 360° rotational display meaning it's is readable whether you are left or right handed which is fantastic.

Review - Bamboo Chopping Board with Knife Sharpener and Honer by Stellar Cookware

Did you know you're more lightly to cut yourself using a blunt knife than a sharp one?  So many people don't bother about buying a knife sharpener to keep their knives sharp but not only does a sharp knife make food preparation so much easier but it's far safer too.

If you're short of space in the kitchen then this new Bamboo Chopping Board from Stellar Cookware is brilliant since it has a knife horner/sharpener built into the corner of the board; 2 products in 1

Edge of Belgravia Black Diamond Knife Block and Precision Knife Set - Giveaway

Edge of Belgravia is one of the worlds most innovative chef knife brands.  Established in Belgravia, London in 2010 and officially launched onto the UK market in 2012, Edge of Belgravia has quickly won acclaim.  The company has combined daring avant-gard design with clever marketing to gain global recognition.

Created by London designer Christian Bird the futuristic concept of this unique floating knife block is reminiscent of the angles of a rough-cut diamond, yet has the style and beauty of contemporary art.

The knife block (RRP £99.90) holds up to 11 knives but looks just as good with fewer and is suitable for most knives with a blade thickness of up to 4 mm.
Clever use of weighting holds knives securely in place and they are easy to remove too.

The Precision Knife set (RRP £69.90) includes a Bread knife, Chef's knife, Deba knife (Japanese salmon) knife and Paring knife.  All the knives are coated in stainless steel with a non stick blade coating which cuts with ease.

Having used these knifes for the past week I can say they are truly the best knives I've ever had.  I love that they are handy and time saving as I can see exactly which knife I want at a glance and of course the knife block keeps them safe rather than them being kept in a drawer.  The knives are razor sharp and comfortable to hold.  They are not dishwasher safe.

More information can be found over at Edge of Belgravia website.

Chipotle Burgers with Sweet and Sour Courgette and Red Onion Pickle - Street Food

Over the past few years street food has come a long way from good old fish 'n' chips eaten from a paper bag on the way home from a night out.  But these days there's so much more street food available and the variety of different foods to be found is amazing.
Street food should be good, filling and full of flavour and I say pickles are the finishing touch to the perfect burger.

Photo by Sarson's; they recreated my burger & pickle recipe and arranged for a professional photo to be taken.

Sarson’s Malt Pickling Vinegar is already spiced meaning you don't have to add anymore spices to it and it can be used as it is.  But for my burger I wanted a sweet and sour pickle with an extra kick of spice.
