UFUUD Premium Italian Food Delivery to UK and Europe - Review

I was recently asked if I'd like to place an order with Ufuud (an online Italian food ordering company) to review their ordering system and delivery to the UK.
Now we're talking proper premium Italian food that is not only delivered to Italy but can also be shipped to places all over Europe from Milan.

I was in my element browsing through the Ufuud website looking at all the beautiful foods and the product packaging just cries out 'buy me'!  I mean seriously, look at the lovely products - I can't wait to try them all.  Pasta of all shapes and some you can't buy over here in the UK.
The site is really easy to negotiate and ordering was extremely easy.  Shipping to the UK is just 48/72 hours but I was ordering on a Wednesday afternoon and didn't want my order to arrive until Monday when I could be at home to receive it.

So, as I was testing out this ordering service I took advantage of the online chat Ufuud have installed on the site - amazing.  I chatted to someone asking telling them I didn't want my order to arrive when I couldn't be at home.  The person typed back immediately saying it wasn't a problem - just order now and she said they would make sure it arrived on Monday.
I wasn't ordering anything chilled so it wasn't a problem.  I had my doubts as it all seemed too good to be true.  I;m not meaning to be funny but that doesn't happen with stuff ordered and sent within the UK so I was intrieged to know how it was going to work coming all the way from Milan, Italy.

Truly Fantastic Service from Ordering to Delivery.

Ordering:
Here you can see my order as I saw it on my PC with everything clearly listed.  Of course this is a screen shot so you can't see the entire order but you can see the cost in the top right so you know how much you're spending.

Orders over £70 (95 euros) are shipped FREE which personally I think is fantastic.

Delivery:
Straight after ordering you receive conformation via email and shortly after when your order is dispatched, you are given a tracking number.  At the time of writing the courier service to the UK and Europe is DHL and it has to be said I couldn't fault their tracking system.

Remember I ordered on the Wednesday but wanted my parcel to arrive on Monday - and it did.
So on the Monday afternoon my parcel arrived.  It was really well packed and all the jars were individually wrapped in bubble wrap.

The only thing that was broken were a few sheets of lasagne which isn't the end of the world - I mostly find at least two sheets broken in every pack in our supermarkets.

I am really impressed with how well everything was packed and the whole ordering and delivery system.

My Order:
Ö Magazine Tomato & Vegetables Sauce £4.90
Saffron Stigmas £8.50
Parmigiano Reggiano Cream £4.70
White Modena Dressing £12.50
AMA Blonde Beer 750ml £5.90
Ready-Made Spicy Sauce £4.30
Traditional Sauce 180g £4.20
Egg Gramigna Pasta x 2 £4.00
Bronze-Extruded Senatore Cappelli Spaghettone Thick Spaghetti 500g £3.70
Lasagne Sheets 250g £4.00
Classic Spaccatella Tomatoes 580g £6.50
Ancient Flavour "Pera d'Abruzzo" Tomato Sauce 500ml £3.70
Bronze-Extruded Senatore Cappelli Scialatielli-Style Spaghetti 500g £3.20
Carnaroli Rice in a Box 1kg £4.70
Total     £78.80

Now all that remains is what to try next?!
The other night I cooked some of the Bronze-Extruded Senatore Cappelli Spaghettone (thick spaghetti to you and me) which can be seen in a blue box to the far right of my picture.  We had it with the tomato and vegetable sauce and it was delicious.

What about shipping chilled products?
After writing this post I realised I didn't mention that UFUUD also ship chilled items and here's what they have to say:

We see there’s some curiosity about transporting refrigerated products, and the answer is we do! We guarantee what we call the “cold chain”. It’s managed properly and constantly keeping our products at the right temperatures during conservation and shipping.
This is done thanks to thermal packaging made by EPS with a thickness of 2,5cm, which is able to maintain the temperature for several hours.  This has to be combined with the right amount of gel pack (for food use) that, according to the mass of fresh products and the correct ratio between the two, is able to keep the right temperature from 72 up to 96 hours.  And as another precaution and to make sure all works properly, during the hot season we only ship fresh products from Monday to Wednesday.

Disclaimer:  I was asked to review the Ufuud ordering and delivery process and supplied with a voucher code for the goods.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  As always, I was not required to write a positive review.

  3. I have never used a grocery delivery service as such (never Ocado or any of the supermarkets) so it would be a real leap of faith to make an order outwith the UK and expect it to arrive on time, with all ingredients present and intact. It certainly sounds like UFUUD 'delivered' for you. I wonder how they would have sorted out chilled items?

  4. I bet you can get some amazing things direct from Italy. Free delivery over a certain cost sounds good too. I wonder if the chilled items would be delivered more quickly?
