Sweet and Sour Pork - Tefal ActiFryDay Challenge

Takeaways are big business in the UK with Brits spending more than £6 billion on takeaway meals each year.  But this means that in just one year Britons feast on more than 12,000 tonnes of saturated fat from those takeaways.  As Friday night is the most popular time for Brits to order a takeaway, Tefal asked me to take part in the ActiFryDay Challenge which is to swap a Friday night takeaway for healthier alternatives.

Supplied with the ActiFry Express XL, the recipe and ingredients I was all set to cook!

Sweet and Sour Pork cooked in a far healthier way.

Using the ActiFry doesn't mean  you  have to completely give up the food you love - just use less oil.
I'm loving my ActiFry Express and yes it does cook quicker than the ActiFry Family.  The ActiFry Express XL cooks up to 30% Faster than the ActiFry Family.

The new ActiFry Express XL RRP £249.95

A Few Interesting Facts from Tefal's Takeaway Report:
A study of the five of the most popular dishes found the nation consumes 12,400 tonnes of saturated fat     through takeaway alone.
Brits eat up to 2,900 calories and 161 grams of fat in their most popular takeaway meal.
Chinese is the nation’s favourite takeaway.
Nearly one in 10 young men have lied about having a takeaway!

Expert nutrition consultant and author Azmina Govindji, who worked on the nutritional analysis of popular take away foods compared to ActiFry recipes, comments: “Most of us know takeaways contain fat, but sometimes we forget how high these levels are. Taking up the challenge is a great way of balancing the foods you love with healthier alternatives.
Cooking a delicious Chicken Tikka Masala in Tefal’s low-fat fryer, ActiFry, reduces the saturated fat content from 17.4g in a typical takeaway portion to just 1g per serving of the ActiFry recipe and after all, moderation is the key.”

  1. I've just got the family actifry actually and it's good as it has two layers, but fast is always good too.

  3. I still haven't got on the Acti-fry bandwagon and now I feel so left out. Everyone seems to love theirs. It certainly sounds a great way to quickly get something healthy and family-friendly on the table.
