Orange Flavoured Pancakes with Chocolate Sauce and Caramelised Orange Slices

With Pancake day just around the corner, now's the time to get creative in the kitchen and serve up something other than the normal everyday kind of pancake.  Come on, get cooking!  That said, personally I actually like and prefer pancakes with a just sprinkle of sugar and a good squeeze of lemon - I'm easily pleased!

Pancakes

First job is to get yourself a good decent non-stick frying pan that's up to the job. This rather nice looking frying pan from Judge Cookware Continental range is the very fellow.  This pan heats up quickly making it perfect for pancakes.  Of course this frying pan isn't only for pancakes. Great for everyday use and perfect for that Saturday morning bacon sandwich or a good fry up.

Best Recipe - Cheese Onion and Tomato Quiche

I'm gonna say it!  This quiche was Delicious, yes with a capital D - just the right amount of cheesiness with beautifully softened onions topped with sweet baby plum tomatoes.  And the pastry was perfectly cooked and crispy too.


A nice slice of this with a cuppa will do the trick as a snack or of course served with a side salad makes the perfect lunch.
Readers of this blog may have seen my post about my fancy new Stoves Sterling Oven which has a rather marvelous 'Intensive bake' option which is perfect for cooking quiche and tarts since it eliminates the need to 'blind bake' the pastry first.  Using base and top heat with fan, it is for me a good thing since I'm put off of baking because of the faff of having to part cook then return to the oven - it's too much of a botheration!

Sandwich Idea - Chinese-style Chicken with Sweet Chilli Sauce

Having recently been set a challenge by Warburtons which was to create a healthy sandwich using their Sandwich Thins, here's my sandwich!
Chinese-style Chicken with Sweet Chilli Sauce and Baby Leaves tucked between Warburtons Seeded Sandwich Thins.  Healthy and delicious.


Warburtons sandwich thins are available just 100Kcal per thin.  They're pre-sliced too which makes them ideal for rustling up a super quick sandwich.  There are four varieties to choose from; white, brown, seeded and half and half.

Great British Sunday Roast - Made Easy with Judge Cookware

The Great British Sunday roast is a meal that is actually quite easy to make.  Once you have the vegetables peeled, chopped and ready to go, the meat or poultry is a doddle to cook, but of course like everything, having the right tools makes any job easier.
This Judge non-stick Roast Tin and 'V' Roasting Rack has been designed to cook meat to perfection.  It's made from heavy carbon steel, with a non stick coating and was both great to use and easy clean. 

 
The tin provides even heat distribution, while the rack has been fashioned  into a V to allow fat to drain away from the joint, giving you a crisper, healthier cut.  The excess oil can then be poured away, or used to make gravy.  As you can see the chicken cooked on the V rack came out of the oven with nice crispy skin.

Digestive Health - Gut Gastronomy Book Review

A really interesting book with great photography and lovely recipes throughout.  This hardback is well worth having a look at.  If you want to look after yourself and I know I really should start eating more healthily, this is a great book.
