Old El Paso Products Review

I have to say I quite like the Old El Paso range of products and we particularly like their fajita packet spice mix.

Old El Paso Products and Casserole Recipe Mixes

Now, I can't help but deviate from what you're 'supposed' to do and as the spice mix is included in their fajita meal kit I took it out and dabbled.

I cooked sliced chicken fillets in a little oil in a hot frying pan.  The chicken becomes glazed and is smokey and delicious.

Add sliced peppers and onions to the pan stirring for a couple of minutes and serve with shredded lettuce, and cucumber and top with either soured cream or guacamole then tuck in.

One Pan Rice Meals 'Chilli and Garlic' for Chicken - all you do is add sliced pepper, onion and chicken.  There's also a Family Friendly, Extra Mild One Pan Rice Meal too which is great if you don't like it hot!

Old El Paso

Old El Paso has just introduced a couple of casserole recipe mixes to their existing product range.

Loving the sound of the 'Smoky Chipotle Chilli and Honey' I gave it a go.

Now it's meant to be for beef but I fancied chicken and as long as you cook it for less time than you would beef it was actually really tasty. Serve with rice and you have dinner sorted.

The other casserole mix in the range is 'Mild and Creamy Poblano Pepper' but being a lover of truly spicy food I haven't actually used that one yet.

Disclaimer: Many thanks to Old El Paso for sending me these products to try. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  4. And annoyingly they have discontinued the casserole mixes. My favourite was the Spicy Habenero and Roast Garlic one. I had one packet left, and I had it tonight. I'm gutted that I'll never have it again!
People on EBay are selling the Poblano Pepper, and the Honey Chipotle ones in boxes on 24 quite cheap. But the other two varieties seem to be extinct.
    Shame!
